Cincinatti Lament

(Words and music by Jeff Hickenlooper)

Shots Ring out in the city heat
Some say it's the criminals, some say it is the police
but a young man died of mistaken identity
all we need is just a little more peace

young man living beneath the bridge
He asks for your change so he can live
"Get a Job" you spit in his face
but you don't know what put him in this place

You hate me cause I am white
'cause you think I hate you cause your not
We're all paying for sin that's been forgotten
we need to lay down our arms and stop the fighting
So much to accomplish when we all unite

I don't know which way to go
Feel I'm going against the flow

Politicians invade my TV
We can fix all these problems if you re-elect me
Says all the things we want to see
But doesn't do anything that we really need

God and the devil get so abused
i guess thats why we all seem so confused

I don't know which way to go
I always feel against the flow
