Our
approach is simple.
Design is a good idea brought to life with a creative solution
catered to the unique goals and parameters of the project.
At
the start, the goals and parameters of a particular design
project are identified by the client and the designer. [Project
goals might include creating an identity system for a new
organic beauty product, designing the CD packaging and web
site for a rock band, or creating the "look and feel"
of a new literary magazine or book series. Project parameters
might include such concerns as budget, corporate color and
design style guides, and the project time frame.]
Then
the idea generation period begins, a brainstorm
resulting in several design concepts and "working drafts."
Drafts are criticized by the designers, leaving only the
strongest concepts to develop and present to the client.
After
a direction is chosen from the working drafts, we get back
to work—fine-tuning the design concept to create the
right solution. The finished product, whether a logo or
a web site, is ready to enter the world and get to work.
DESIGNFARM
offers a full range of creative services. In addition to
print and web design, we regularly provide copy writing
services, branding and naming services, FLASH animation design, photography and illustration services (via partners), print
production management, and more.

DESIGNFARM
was founded by Jason ("J") Johnson in 1999 while
living and working in New York City.
J remains the owner and primary designer at DESIGNFARM today.
His hands and eyes work on every project. He answers the
phones, makes strong coffee, and comes up with ideas of varying quality all day long. When he's not working as a designer, he's the singer/guitarist
in the band National Carpet, or is probably working on
neverheardofthem.com,
an independent music blog and DIY record label of which you've never heard.
Please
feel free to call (413.977.6581) or email
us to discuss your next design project. We're happy to prepare
design estimates, or schedule an exploratory meeting to get the ball rolling.
